Last Day of Clinic!

So today is the last day of clinic and I can hardly believe it! This morning I saw a new patient that was a 1B and was able to take my last set of scanx bwx. She was a pretty easy patient so that was nice. This afternoon I am having my board patient come in so I can retake a few x-rays. I feel bad for making her come in mulitple times, but I guess its better than failing x-rays. She seems to be pretty reliable, so that is good. I still get nervous though from hearing about all the horor stories of patinet not coming. I am just trying to be positive and I know that everything will turn out the way it is supposed to.

LA mockboard

So today was LA mockboard and things went okay. I had trouble with the angle on my PSA, but the IA went pretty well. This afternoon I was able to finish 2 quads of a 2 for Michelle. He needed anesthetic so I was glad that I got to practice the PSA a couple more times. I just hope that I can get the hang of it before the actual board. I cannot believe that there is only one more clinic day left. This semester has gone by so fast. Well not much more than that to say.

Finished with requirements!

So today I got finished with all of my required quads. I still have 2 more PE's and a pano but other than that I am finished! This morning I finished a patient who I started a few weeks ago. He was half 3 half 4. He needed LA which is always nice to practice. In the afternoon, I saw two cute little girls who were 3 and 5. They both did really great and even let me take x-rays. I am glad to be done with my quads, it is such a relief. I also found a board patient on Friday! She should be pretty good, and has no interproximal restorations which is a huge plus. She speaks Spanish so that makes me a little nervous, but I am trying to have her husband come and translate for us. Hopefully he can!

Last Mockboard!

Today was the last mockboard. I can't believe that this semseter is almost over! My patient was an alright patient for mockboard. Her calculus was pretty rough, but I think I did a pretty good job. I have not seen what my score is yet, so I guess I will have to wait for that to really see how well I did. Anyways not to much more than that to say. I am doing 2 screenings on Firday hopefully one of them will be my board!

3-17-09

This morning I was able to see a class3/4 I was able to scale the right side of his mouth, and also do some LA. I am glad that I was able to do LA because he was so sensitive. When I was probing during the OD, he kept pulling away from me which was pretty annoying. He also seemed very nervous, and his mouth was quivering the during the UR quad. When I got down to the LR quad he seemed to relax and do a little bit better. He is coming back to finish up the left side in April. My afternoon patient canceled and I was unable to find another patient. I was able to study for boards most of the time, which was nice and a little stressful. I can't believe how soon boards are. Well that is all I can think of right now, better get back to studying.

3-3-09

So today was a pretty productive day. This morning I was able to see my brother who was a 1B. He had been wanting to get in and get his teeth cleaned and I could not find anybody to fill my morning appointment today so he was able to come in. This afternoon I was able to see a patient who is most likely going to be my mockboard. She has pretty tenacious calculus, and had a few 6 mm pockets. I am going to try and find somebody who is more ideal, but if not I will use her. I was able to get my ScanX PA's completed on her also which makes me glad considering I was done with PA's last semester. Today was a overall good day!

Done with class 3's

So today in clinic I saw 3 quads of a class 3 in the morning and 2 quads of a 4 in the afternoon. It was a really good day in clinic and I only missed 2 spots on the class 4. I felt pretty confident with my scaling and exploring. I decided that from now on I am going to treat each patient as if they were my board patient. Sometimes I feel that I get in a hurry and don't check after I scale the way I should. I felt liked I checked well today and in the end I seemed to do better than usual. Now for my requirements I just need another class 4, and 2 1A patients. Hopefully those will come my way.
